A little guidance. A different perspective.
Camera-shy?A guide to booking your first London photoshoot.
You don’t need to know how to pose. You just need a little guidance, time to settle in, and space to be yourself.

Wanting beautiful photographs of yourself and feeling comfortable in front of a camera are two different things. Perhaps you never know where to put your hands, feel awkward when someone says “smile”, or worry that a professional photoshoot is only for people who already know what they’re doing.
You don’t need modelling experience to book a portrait photoshoot in London. A good photographer will guide you through the session, help you find comfortable positions and give you time to discover what feels natural.
At So Good Media, that guidance is part of the experience.
You won’t be expected to arrive knowing how to pose.
Over years of photographing people with different personalities and levels of confidence, we’ve learnt how to make the process approachable.
Some people enjoy clear instructions from the beginning. Others feel more comfortable walking, chatting or trying a small movement first. We adapt our approach to the person in front of the camera.
You won’t be left wondering what to do next. We’ll help with the details: where to look, how to position your hands, how to shift your weight and when to relax into a movement.
Often, a small adjustment is all it takes.

Clear directions. Visual references when they help.
Not every pose is easy to explain in words. That’s why we use a combination of verbal guidance and reference images.
For a simple adjustment, we might suggest turning slightly towards the light or looking just past the camera. For something harder to picture, a visual reference can make the idea much clearer.
These references are starting points. We adapt them to your comfort, clothing and surroundings, so the photographs still feel like you.
You can also bring a few images you love. They help us understand whether you’re drawn to relaxed portraits, a more editorial look or something expressive and playful.
You can blink, laugh, reset and try again.
There’s room to try, adjust and choose.
A portrait session doesn’t depend on getting everything right in a single photograph.
During one session, we take plenty of photographs, exploring changes in expression, movement, angle and framing. A similar pose might feel completely different when you turn your head, soften your shoulders or begin to walk.
This creates options to choose from and takes the pressure off each individual frame.
The aim is to create a varied selection of portraits, with enough room to find the images you connect with most. The number of finished, professionally edited photographs depends on your chosen package.
Before your first London photoshoot.
A little preparation can help you arrive feeling more comfortable:
- Wear something that feels like you.Choose clothes you enjoy wearing and can move in comfortably.
- Tell us what feels difficult.Whether it’s smiling, posing or being photographed in public, knowing your concerns helps us guide you.
- Bring a few references if you like. Two or three images are enough to start a conversation.
- Choose a pace that suits you.If you’d appreciate more time to settle in or explore different settings, we can help you select a suitable session.
You don’t need to practise a collection of poses beforehand.
Choose a photographer whose process feels reassuring.
When booking a photographer, look beyond the photographs themselves. Ask how the session is guided, whether there’s time to ease into it and what your package includes.
Beautiful images matter. So does feeling comfortable while they’re being made.
Our approach combines clear direction with room for your own personality. You can be quiet, expressive, a little nervous or completely new to the experience. We’ll work with you from there.
Different people. Different ways to be yourself.
Your own point of view.
